Florida requires drug test for welfare benefits

Beginning July 1, 2011, the state of Florida began requiring a drug test for anyone signing up for welfare benefits. So far, there has been a 23% drop in applications! Clearly the message to pill-heads and other drug addicts is that if you are unemployed because you choose that lifestyle, the working men and women of Florida will not pay your way. Let's hope this common sense approach to curtailing free loading bums spreads like wildfire to the other 49 states A.S.A.P.

Of course, the A.C.L.U. has filed a lawsuit appealing the new law on the grounds that it violates the Fourth Amendment, which prohibits illegal or unjustified searches of a person or that person's property. So, according to the A.C.L.U. , if you get out of bed everyday and go to work and pay taxes, it 's none of your business if your money goes to support a drug addict too sorry to work and provide for themselves.

Let's watch and see where this goes.
